Clients usually come to me with an idea that's out of the ordinary and no clear place to start. I work out how to do it, then stay with it until it's live and working on the day it has to.
For agencies and brands
Brand activations
The technology behind activations that have to run in public, built to keep going with nobody on hand to rescue it.
The briefA Coke can shaped vending machine that reads a visitor's brainwaves, turns the reading into artwork and emails it to them there and then.
BuiltAll the software, from the Unity app on the machine to the Node server behind it. When a Muse headset gave a poor read, fallbacks still produced a proper artwork.
On the dayNothing went wrong in the field. It ran for the whole activation without me on site. The Coca-Cola machine →
Strongbow GOAT promotion
A find-the-coin touchscreen game
Chance.
The briefA small branded game strangers could walk up to and play with no explanation, holding up for the whole promotion.
BuiltA browser game on a wide touchscreen in the brand's own graphics. Three attempts to find the gold coin on a 3 by 4 grid, with input validation for walk-offs and repeated taps.
On the dayIt went fine. A few players walked off mid-game, and the brand ambassador reset those sessions as they came up.The Strongbow game →

An in-store podium that recommended and printed
Choice.
The briefHelp shoppers pick something for their home: answer a few questions on a tablet, get a product suggested and walk away with it printed.
BuiltThe tablet app, from the multiple choice questions to the recommendation and the printout.
In storeIt stood on the shop floor through normal store hours, with no engineer on hand. The Fox and Ivy podium →
AI agents and LLM systems
Past the demo.
Most of the effort goes into the parts that decide whether a project gets past the demo: picking the right model for each job, connecting it to the company's own data and tools, keeping running costs sensible, and checking its output so a person only has to sign off what matters.
I also take advisory calls on getting AI into production.
